Princes Trust Mentor Programme Success

Princes Trust Mosaic Mentoring Programme

26 Year 9 students took part in the prestigious Princes Trust Mosaic Mentoring Programme from January to April 2018. His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales founded the programme in 2007 with the aim of creating opportunities for young people.

This was a fantastic opportunity for students to meet business volunteer mentors from local employer Capita who shared their personal experiences whilst delivering fun, engaging workshops which aimed to boost confidence, self-belief and employability.

Miss Dakin, CEIAG Co-ordinator said, "The programme has been rewarding, each session you could see the impact it was having on individuals. The final group presentations really showed how some students had grown in confidence."

In April, the students gained first-hand experience of the world of work by visiting Capita offices to see where the mentors work. The visit included a tour, talks from staff in various roles and a walk through a live call centre section, RSPCA.

One student commented, "I was surprised, it wasn't what I expected a call centre to be like. It was interesting listening to the talks, particularly the young man who had worked his way up to be a manager."

The programme ended with an inspirational speaker from Capita who also presented certificates to all participants.
