Best Secondary Business, Kasey's Kake's

It's a hatrick for 'Best Secondary Business' Kasey's Kakes

Year 9 student K. Suttle is celebrating after scooping a hatrick of awards for her business 'Kasey's Kakes' at the I Know I Can Big Challenge Celebration Evening on Wednesday 23rd May.

K. Suttle's was stunned when she was awarded her first trophy of the evening for the 'Best Final Report', this was quickly followed by receiving the award for the business with the 'Potential for Growth'. Winning these two categories was fantastic, but the highlight of the evening was being announced the 'Best Secondary Business' and includes a prize of an all expenses trip to Madrid!

Miss Dakin, CEIAG Co-ordinator said, "I am so proud of Kasey, she is a deserving winner. This is an amazing achievement and reflects the hard work and commitment that she has demonstrated throughout the business challenge. Her cakes are delicious!"

The I Know I Can Big Challenge is an enterprise challenge led by the local authority and encourages young entrepreneurs to develop skills in running their own business.

After submitting their final business reports, two teams, 'Kasey's Kakes' and 'Joys Jars' were selected to face the Dragons Den and pitch their business to a panel of judges. The ten finalist secondary teams were invited to the Celebration Evening held at The Civic in Barnsley for the prize giving.

Joys Jars created by K. Hughes, A. Miles and S. Gowland were also nominated for the 'Best Final Report Award'.

Kirk Balk Academy is extremely proud of our students' achievements.
